The NSFAS bursary form is the official document that students must complete when applying for financial aid through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) in South Africa. This form captures important personal, academic, and financial information required to determine eligibility for funding. The bursary form is a crucial step in the NSFAS application process, and accurate completion is essential to ensure your application is processed without delays.
The form typically includes sections requesting your contact details, identity information, proof of income for you and your parents or guardians, and information about your current or intended course of study at a public university or TVET college. You will also be asked to upload supporting documents, such as certified copies of your ID, proof of registration, and income statements. Providing complete and correct information helps NSFAS assess your financial need and approve the appropriate level of funding.
You can download the printable bursary form from the NSFAS official website or complete it online through the NSFAS portal during the application period, which usually runs from August to November each year. It is important to follow all instructions, complete every required field, and submit all supporting documents as indicated — incomplete forms or missing documents can result in delays or rejection of your application.
Once your bursary form and supporting documents have been submitted, you can check your application status via the NSFAS student portal to see if additional information is required or if your application has been approved. Successful applicants will be informed through email or SMS, so maintaining accurate contact details is essential throughout the process.

Please read every section of the form, and fully complete all required sections. Application forms without ALL supporting documents will not be processed by NSFAS. NSFAS requires that you provide a cell phone number or an email address so that NSFAS can communicate with you during the application process, and to inform you of the outcome of your application. If your application is successful, we need the cell phone number provided in case you qualify for allowances. If you are a student with a disability, you must complete an additional form, available on the NSFAS website, and will be required to provide a medical certificate in support of your disability condition. Please contact NSFAS on 0860 067 327 for more information, or the applicant can go to the nearest university/TVET college financial aid office for assistance.
